Sundance will share about shamanism, an ancient practice of engaging with nature and spirit helpers. The focus will be on the shamanic journey, a practice in which a shaman (medicine person, healer) enters an altered state of consciousness and journeys (inner journey) to seek assistance from helping spirits. This assistance may include healing for an individual or group, divination and guidance, support for the land and community, and so on.
After this introduction, we will create a sacred space in which each person will have the opportunity to go on a shamanic journey. Sundance will play a steady drum beat to assist with the journey. After the journey, we will have an opportunity to share about our experiences as we wish. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal/pen and something to cover your eyes (scarf, eye mask). You may also wish to bring a candle, small animal figurine, rock/stone, picture, etc.
NOTE: This event is free with an option to make a donation to the Jung Society of Washington.
