An Evening With Nancy Furlotti:
The Not-To-Be-Forgotten World of the Maya
Friday, November 20, 2026, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM Eastern Time
This program WILL BE RECORDED.
The focus of this lecture is to offer an overview of the significant Maya civilization as it existed about 3,000 years ago and to explore its achievements and continuing influence in our world.
Maya civilization still has so much to offer us today in terms of knowledge and warnings. Where did these people come from? How did they create such an impressive culture here in the Americas, isolated from the rest of the world?
The K’iche’ Maya creation myth, the Popol Vuh, gives us the template to answer these questions. We will explore its meaning, function, and significance from a Jungian perspective. We will examine the themes, symbols, and metaphors contained within it to extract the psychological meaning that was pertinent to the development of their culture and that laid out the accepted values for the individuals to live by.
Memories of past cultures give us a wider horizon to see where our world is heading.
Please join us in looking back at the relevant and exciting world of the Maya.
