CALL FOR ARTIST INFORMATION
The Jung Society welcomes applicants for inclusion in the Virtual Gallery. Please note, however, that artists are selected not just for the quality of their art, but also for their willingness to share the story behind it, as explained below.
Jung Society Mission Statement
The Jung Society of Washington is dedicated to nourishing the human spirit and to serving the longing that comes to us in our dreams and in moments of hardship, imagination, struggle, and creativity. We support the exploration of our own psychic depths and the primal impulse for personality integration that Dr. Carl Gustav Jung called “individuation”. With a psychological lens, we deepen the discussion of social issues, history, and current events. We encourage the development of greater self-awareness and creative expression—individually, in relationships, and within the community.
Objective of the Jung Society Virtual Gallery
Artists often describe their art in terms of what it will do for the viewer, that it will inspire, heal, transport, etc. The Jung Society Virtual Gallery, on the other hand, features artists who share with us what creating art does for their own psyches--what the win is for them in their art. The Virtual Gallery is a natural showcase for “expressive” art, but it also welcomes artists whose experience demonstrates that even the quietest piece can speak volumes.
