For the kriya yogi, astrology is the mother language of symbolic thought and is used to help you interpret, describe, and categorize the symbols that arise in your dreams, in your waking life, and in meditation states. One of the most important precepts is that nothing is to be discarded as insignificant; all symbols arising in these states are part of the mandala of your life.

In this course, we will focus on how yogis understand Saturn as the dark angel of compulsory learning. At up to three critical periods in the course of a lifetime (occurring every 28-30 years), this dark angel brings a structuring crisis to life that compels us to confront our deepest issues. Saturn is a call to attend to the embodied events of your life, not a call to transcendence. It reminds us that we were born of necessity. We will discuss how to remediate and transmute the darker powers of Saturn so that it can drive us into consciousness, rather than into compulsive behavior. We will offer tools to let your own psyche reflect on the meaning of Saturn in your life so that the numinous within you can uncover this life lesson, rather than having someone interpret it for you.

We will also discuss four chief paths that kriya yogis consider to help remediate the forces of Saturn in your life. The work in astrology and kriya yoga is always toward remaining in balance, even as you experience changes within the psyche and the soma.

Please bring your chart, or your birth date, place of birth, and time (if available) to the class. Please register as this class is limited to 15 participants, due to the nature of the work. No previous experience or knowledge of astrology is needed. The final two weeks will be devoted to your presenting some of your discoveries about Saturn in your life, or your creative process of remediation based on what you have learned in the course. We will give feedback on uses of remediation that you may wish to consider.

Heidi Lindemann and Michael Perry are lineage holders in the
Kriya Yoga tradition (an Indian alchemical tradition) and are authorized to initiate and teach Kriya Yoga and its related teachings. The techniques of Kriya Yoga involve a psycho-physical means of self-inquiry and are an initiated path to understanding one's own psyche in the context of the macrocosm. The Swami order is one of the oldest, continuous, living initiatory and alchemical systems extant. Heidi and Michael combine their experience to make yogic teachings accessible to western minds by use of comparative mythology, storytelling, astrology, and other symbolic systems. They are regular course leaders at the Jung Society, the Theosophical Society, and have delivered lectures on Samkhya Yoga to colleges and seminaries.
