The Sabina Spielrein monodrama, presented by Swiss actress Graziella Rossi with saxophonist Harry White’s discrete background touches, vividly describes the stirring life of Russian-Jewish psychiatrist Sabina Spielrein (1885-1942). The play is based on the biographical novel Sabina by Karsten Alnaes and the stage version by Liv Hege Nylund. Graziella Rossi plays the role of Sabina, a 20-year-old schizophrenic who was brought to the Burghölzli Clinic for a year from Rostov, Russia, in 1904. There she meets the young C.G. Jung and falls in love with him. This is the story not much talked about until Aldo Carotenuto's 1982 book, A Secret Symmetry: The Untold Story of the Woman Who Changed the Early History of Psychoanalysis. Q & A with Jungian analysts will follow each performance. "Not a dull moment." “… Rossi jumps between the characters of C.G. Jung, Russian revolutionaries, and Nazi commanders, and between different periods of time with nothing but her suitcase, her coat, and several letters as props. . . An impressive homage to an impressive woman.” --Neue Zürcher Zeitung Parking is in a lot behind the Jewish Community Center and on the street. This program is cosponsored by Pro-Helvetia and Theater J.
