Our Mission

The Jung Society of Washington has been serving the District of Columbia and adjoining states for 50 years.  Serving as a catalyst for engaging conversations on the psychological, social, and aesthetic features of human nature, the Society is a non-profit organization open to all.  Our mission is to support personal growth through self-insight and creative expression, thereby making greater contributions to our relationships, our families, and our society possible.  While any society is the sum of its individual members, our work on personal growth directly feeds the potential for the energization and renewal of society.

Carl Jung believed that more individuals suffer from the loss of meaning than from any other cause.  While meaning is difficult to define, each of us has an inherent sense of what is right for us and what wrong.  How we have responded to the pressures around us since childhood often sets us against ourselves.  Our many classes, seminars, and visiting speakers provide insights and tools to help in the healing process.  As we grow, so our capacity to enlarge the gift we are for others grows.

Through classes, seminars, and workshops, the Society welcomes a range of opinion, creative expression, and thoughtful conversation around the task of personal development, and also deepens our perspective on the issues that confront us on a daily basis.  Our presenters draw from a wide range of professional and life experience to bring insight and tools for our use.  Courses are offered year round, ranging from single lectures and workshops to multi-week classes.  Many of these offerings bear CEs for professional caregivers.

The Jung Society of Washington is here to serve you and your family.  We invite your membership, your participation, and your support.  Together, we grow through the supportive presence of this thoughtful community.
